Best food for you and family
Beautiful surroundings, great food and ambience.
We just visited for a meal so cannot comment on the rooms. A lovely location with a traditional pub feel inside. Friendly staff and the food is good and wholesome.

Great place, very welcoming, good choice of beer (2 different cask ales on draught), food well made, delicious (check the daily specials board), generous but not ridiculous portions, very nice desserts. Staff really accommodating, professional and a good laugh

That’s a wrap! On Sunday, the time has come for us to pass Kingarth on to new guardians once again.
We want to thank each-and-every one of the people who have supported us over the last almost 29 years. The local farming community who never fail to choose Kingarth; the wider Bute community who have been prepared to drive out in all weathers and at all times of the year; the locals in Kingarth and Kilchattan Bay who always make the effort to walk up to Kingarth; all these people and the streams of tourist visitors who return time after time – YOU have made this little country pub what it is today, and we know you will continue to support it with Abi Brooks and Ryan Aitken at the helm.
I have often said over these past years that Kingarth is one of those places that you can never truly "own". You can only strive to look after it for a while, and hope that your efforts leave it in a better place than you found it. I believe we have achieved this. Twice!
So, having built ourselves a fantastic little local, we look forward to joining you on the other side of the bar !
With love, Simon, Maria and Oliver Tettmar … See MoreSee Less

Thank you for all your kind wishes….. to be clear, we are RETIRING! No new ventures but plenty of ADventures. We are definitely staying on Bute in our wee bungalow at Kingarth – I have lived here longer than in England!!
What an incredible chapter you’ve given The Kingarth. Maria, in particular, you have been nothing short of phenomenal. The way you’ve held the place, always present, always overseeing everything with such care and professionalism. From the consistently outstanding, award-winning food to the warm, welcoming atmosphere, and a team that clearly reflects your values. It’s no small thing to run such a tight ship while making it feel like home to so many of us. What a legacy you’ve built together. I’m really going to miss you both but….here’s to seeing you on the other side of the bar. Thank you 🙏🏻 for everything! Dawne x
A huge thank you from me and all the many pilots from across Britain who have flown into Bute to enjoy a meal /stay at the wonderful Kingarth. Very best of luck for the future !
